  1. Confirm production status. Verify the lot is packed, segregated, and traceable to the PO and approved configuration.
  2. Select cartons randomly. Draw across pallets, positions, sizes, colours, and production periods—not factory-prepared samples.
  3. Verify quantity. Check cartons, pairs, assortments, size and colour ratios, shipping marks, and PO totals.
  4. Confirm identity. Compare model, materials, outsole, protection options, colour, logo, labels, and packaging with approved references.
  5. Inspect workmanship. Check seams, sole bonding, cement gaps, contamination, deformation, lasting, hardware, foreign objects, and left/right matching.
  6. Measure construction. Apply agreed methods for internal length, key dimensions, weight, symmetry, toe-box geometry, and size progression.
  7. Perform on-site checks. Use predefined methods and subsamples for barcode, logo rub, basic flexing, hardware, simple water, or packaging checks.

For a failed lot, isolate the affected stock, investigate the root cause, assess the full scope, and carry out approved rework or 100% sorting where appropriate. Corrective action should address the process—not only replace the defective pairs found in the original sample. Reinspection should use a new random sample from the properly reworked and resubmitted lot.
